Celebrating the life of
Carol K. MacDonald
April 21, 1947 - July 12, 2013
RICHMOND HILL, GA - Carol Kadrmas MacDonald passed away on July 12, 2013, in Tuckasegee, NC as a result of a tragic and freak accident at her wilderness cabin.
Carol was born and raised in Fairfield, North Dakota by loving parents Alfred and Katherine Kadrmas. She attended grade school in a one room school house in Fairfield in which all eight grades were taught at the same time by the same teacher in the same room. They lived so far away from town that for high school, she had to live in a dormitory in Dickinson, ND, 50 miles away.
After she graduated from high school, she attended the National College of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota, where she received a degree in business administration in 1966.
She married Russell K. MacDonald on December 30, 1967 and they lived together in love and happiness since then.
Carol and Russell had one child, a son named Logan, who brought immeasurable love and joy to their lives. Then, Logan married the lovely Carla Collins and they had our beautiful grandson, Will, in 2008.
Throughout her life Carol was involved with helping others. One of her crowning achievements was her yearly mission trip with HELPS International to Guatemala, where she was the head cook for a group of around 120 doctors, nurses, dentists, and other medical people. She did this for 18 years in a row. We have decided to establish a memorial in her name at HELPS International, and the money donated to this fund will be used to help others with the cost of traveling to Guatemala to do this mission work.
Carol was also a devout Christian and served on staff for 15 years at Christ Church Anglican in Plano, TX. Since coming to Richmond Hill, GA in 2008, she has proudly served as a Eucharistic Minister at Christ Church Anglican in Savannah, GA.
Carol was always the first to volunteer to help someone in need.
Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Russell , their son Logan and his wife Carla, and their son, Carol's only grandson William. Carol is also survived by her mother, Katherine Kadrmas, and brother Glen Kadrmas and his wife Sue of Dickinson and Belfield, North Dakota, and her sister Sherry Kadrmas, of Dallas, Texas.
There will be a memorial service, open to all her friends and relatives, to honor Carol's life at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah, GA. It will be a traditional Anglican Service conducted by the clergy of Christ Church Anglican.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Carol's memory to: Carol MacDonald Memorial Fund, Project #1715, HELPS International, 15301 Dallas Parkway, Suite 200, Addison, TX 75001.
